The January McMontage Monthly
The month I unpacked and made a video about spending 10 years in Chicago.
Remember me? Now, do you remember January?
I’m sorry to make you do that. It’s been a rough start to the year re:fascism and re:sucking asbestos into your lungs from the neighborhood catastrophic fires (re:re:climate change).
I didn’t want to send this out until I finished the video I was working on last month, which bled into this month. And to be honest, I was trying to finish this video before I moved at the end of the-month-before-last-month, known to some as December. But it’s done now, because I simply have to stop having ideas about it and move onto having ideas about other projects, for which I’m on a deadline and will be paid.
The video is about leaving Chicago after ten years. But it’s also a video about ten years. What is ten years? Leave your answers in the comments.
Here’s the video:
Now that I’ve finished it (as of 20 minutes ago), I feel a great relief. Onward! I live in LA! I’ll never be nostalgic again!
But before I say goodbye, you know I can’t send out a newsletter without a time-lapse. Please enjoy me setting up my new desk in our dining room which shall henceforth be known as “my studio, or, like my office. I’m not sure what to call it, I do a lot of stuff in there.”
To be honest, it’s currently in such a state of disarray after my editing frenzy of the last five days. I’m including a picture so you understand what I’m like sometimes.
It’s fine to be this way. In fact, I like it.
Love,
Claire
every month I want to emphatically yell CLAIRE from the bottom of my heart but especially this month!!!!!
Vulnerably, humorously, beautifully conveyed, as always.
